Warm welcome

to the Parish of Blessed Pope John XXIII Church Website. My name is Rev. Hugh J. Bradley the pastor of Blessed John XXIII Parish Community --we are St. Lucy of Blue Anchor and Sacred Heart of Cedar Brook.

This Parish has been serving the needs of Roman Catholics in the Camden County area for more than 100 years. Since that time, we have grown in numbers and in need. We are one parish of two separate churches, a unique arrangement in a diocese with only five other missions.

Pastoral Planning

The Process of Grief and Loss -
This past year and a half has been difficult for all of us but it is now time to move forward. With this in mind, I am asking that you attend a special two-hour program entitiled – the Process of Grief and Loss on Tuesday, June 17th, 7-9PM at St. Lucy’s. The evening has been developed for us by the diocesan Coping with Change Committee to help us uncover and name our emotions, let go of thing we cannot change, and help each other enter into the “future filled with hope” that God has promised us. This is a time and place to express feelings within ritual and prayer. Please set aside and plan to be part of this beautiful ritual. Please fill out the form in the bulletin. more on pastoral planning

Who, What, When, Where and Why are questions that surface when there is planned change. We will attempt to address these questions in the next weeks throughout the summer. read more

Coping with Change and Transition
Moving through the process of reconfiguration is not easy. The Diocesan Transition Committee will be providing the pastors with information, and the pastors will in turn provide their parishioners with the helpful information.

Dr. Richard McCorry in his book entitled, “Dancing with Change: A spiritual Response to Changes in the Church” suggests that we can turn to the Paschal Mystery for understanding. more

Weekly Bulletin

22 June -
12th Sunday Ordinary Time
How do people find hope in the face of suffering and death? That is the question addressed by today’s scriptures. We hear of the suffering of Jeremiah and the psalmist. We hear of the death that “reigned from Adam to Moses” (Romans 5:14). We hear of the fears of the Twelve as Jesus sends them out into the world to preach and heal. Through all this tribulation one message rings out loud and clear—“Do not be afraid!” The God who saved Jeremiah and the psalmist and Jesus is fully present to save us through the gracious gift of Jesus Christ. We have nothing and no one to fear. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.
